A Miraculous Sight from the Summit — The Brocken Spectre
When you stand at the summit,
nature sometimes offers an unexpected gift.
One early morning, as the mist slowly drifted across the peak,
I looked ahead—
And there it was.
On a white curtain of cloud,
my own shadow appeared.
Surrounding it was a faint, glowing rainbow halo,
softly encircling the silhouette.
This is known as the Brocken Spectre.
When the sun is behind you
and clouds or mist stretch out before you,
this rare phenomenon can appear.
In that moment,
it feels as though the light has chosen you.
The summit is a special place.
Because it is closer to the sky than anywhere else in Japan,
you are given the chance to witness such miracles.
Simply reaching the top does not guarantee this view.
It requires the right weather,
the right timing,
and most importantly—
being there.
Only those who spend the night at the summit
and welcome the quiet dawn
may be lucky enough to see it.
No photograph can fully capture this emotion.
It is something you must experience with your own eyes and heart.
Climbing Mount Fuji is not the end when you reach the top.
Staying overnight at the summit—
that is when the true reward begins.
And if fortune smiles upon you,
a ring of light
may appear around your own shadow.
We warmly invite you
to experience this miracle for yourself.
We look forward to welcoming you at the summit.
